1997 Ford F-150 Lariat randomly starts itself.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Ford F-150 Lariat that randomly starts itself, day or night. Sometimes it is just once and like yesterday at least 12 times it did. Night or day, hot or frigid weather dry or wet matters not. Just now heard it start went out side and turned it off and walked 5 feet away and it started once again. I suspect the remote starter and since a hack installed it I am going to have one hell of a time figuring out where it is powered from.

Is there any other reason this truck would just start itself like this?

Usually the small electronic module is placed under the dash near the steering column. It must connect to the ignition system so that is where most are placed. Look for it there. The electrical connections will not look like factory connectors.
