97 Ford F150

Asked by Viola Ann Apr 18, 2019 at 08:25 PM about the 1997 Ford F-150 Lariat 4WD Extended Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased a 97 ford f150 and started
noticing a small gallop that soon became a
death wobble.
I'm a woman who has no one else to help fix it
and little means of money, my daddy had me
working on autos when I was young
Any suggestions as to what to look for?
Also this is my first 4WD, where do I locate the
transfer case?

Do you mean the steering wheel was shaking really bad? Have the front end checked for worn or damaged components. The transfer case is attached to the rear of the transmission.

Yes and thank you. I did locate the transfer case once I got a good night's sleep and my brain worked. Transfer case,4WD all transmission inquires. I did remove the actuator and tomorrow I plan to manually change the 4WD to 2WD. I believe death wobble might be due to my ex swapping my tires out, selling my 4 extra tires I had and they were good too
