I am getting my grandpas 1996 f150, regular cab, short bed, 2 wd.  Should I
level the back end with the front end to make it lower. Or should i raise the

They don't come level why change it. There are specifications for ride height and any alignment shop can set it for you.

The back sits higher so you can carry a load. The rear should be easier to lower. Look for leveling kits.
