Restart

Asked by Guru7FMS May 21, 2017 at 12:38 AM about the 1996 Ford F-150 XL LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Ford F-150 first initial startup when
engine is cold starts fine and if I shut it off
and restart it immediately no problem but if I
wait any longer than 2 to 5 minutes it will
shutter like it has a bad mis-fire and if I hold
down on the throttle it will straighten out and
run fine or it will continue to shutter and try
to stall out I have had a lot of ideas thrown
out to me but none of them seem to have
any merit any information on the situation
would be appreciated

check the plug wires and the contacts of the coil , if those contacts are not clean replace it , also test fuel pressure when problem occurs
