Ground fault code 1995 f150 XLT 5.8 EFI

Asked by Roger Apr 09, 2023 at 07:36 PM about the 1995 Ford F-150 XL 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can almost say that it feels like the motor and the transmission are going
against each other is that possible something wrong there something I'm missing
And it is throwing a ground fault code I can't get it to go faster than 30 or 40
unless I'm going downhill it feels like it needs more fuel but as soon as I put it in
neutral or in park it idles good and accelerates fine it's just when you put it in
gear

If this is an automatic trans, it seems like you have seals leaking pressure to adjacent gears and they're working against each other. Have a trans shop check this. A ground fault likely has nothing to do with this. With old trucks, you get a lot of mud and moisture slung up behind the rear bumper and that rots everything there. So the ground fault is most likely a light bulb wire or socket that's shorting out.
