Harmonic balancer exiting motor

Pulling away from dollar store yesterday I
hear a clank under the hood I looked under
the hood belt was off and harmonic
balancer was not lined up with the other
pulleys it and the crankshaft are both
sticking out almost an inch too far why is
this ...happened all of a sudden been
running all day

Either the harmonic balancer came apart or the bolt that holds it on came loose.
