2003 chevy trailblazer front right turn signal

Asked by mytmech May 27, 2017 at 05:50 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My turn signal on right side blinks really fast. I know that usually means a
bad bulb but the back turn signal works fine just flashes fast the front
however works but it is very dim and blinks fast. tried changing the front
bulb but no change. I would think if it were a flasher relay it would affect the
brightness of both bulbs on that side or all the bulbs in the turn signal. just
looking for someone that has dealt with this problem and somewhere to
start.
Thanks David

replace the turn signal flasher, seen this many times before on American built vehicles

reread your post.. if the right rear blinks normal and the right front blinks fast and dim, >> to test, hook a wire from ground on battery and the other end to the metal part of the bulb, (not the 2 prongs on the bottom) if it blinks ok, then you have a weak ground, you may have to replace the bulb socket, or it may be corrosion on the inside of the socket that grounds the side of the bulb

both right side blink fast but only the front is very dim. almost did not pass inspection

then you have a bad turn signal flasher and a weak ground to the right front bulb socket

You read that right on the money. After further investigation i found that the ground wire had been pinch completely in two. Repaired that and works like it should. Thanks for the info.
