engine idles high, turns off when gas pedal is not being pressed

Trouble began after truck was in below freezing weather. It starts, but once foot is off gaß
pedal it stàlls. Is this a costly repair?

I had a similar issue... I ended up changing the heated o2 sensor and the crank shaft sensor...haven't had the problem since. Is your engine light on?, if so it should pop a code for this and tell you which bank ( for the o2 sensor ) it is in. Hope this helps.
