Check engine light comes on, odometer shows hash marks, & speedometer will nt work on my 2004 ford sport trac' Drive less than 1/2 mile engine light goes off and evrything works correctly. this occurs every 2 to 3 weeks.

wow...intermittent problems are difficult to diagnose..just for funzies would check the plastic electrical connectors going to the printed circuit module going up to the dash, and the one coming out of the transmission....just give 'em a jiggle to make sure they are fully seated.

If the CEL came on, the code is stored. Go to the parts store and get the codes read. Write down the code number. It will tell you what system is failing.

I have the same problem but when they check for the codes they are not showing up.
