2003 Chevy Malibu idles low, stalls and shuts off. Please help!

Asked by Azazel Sep 25, 2019 at 07:44 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'll be driving slow or at a stop and if I let go of the gas the rpm needle goes
all the way down and shuts off completely. I've taken it to the mechanic
multiple times, had the fuel pump, EGR valve, and throttle position sensor
replaced. It seems to work fine for 2 weeks and back to the same issue. For
a while it used to idle very high but not anymore. I'm thinking it's the idle air
control valve, but I'm tired of the guessing.

I'll have to check for the vacuum leak. I just changed the Idle Air Control Valve, I do see some improvement, but still not 100%
