Battery dead on F250 Powerstroke 7.3 Diesel:

Asked by Extejana Aug 03, 2015 at 07:00 PM about the 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty XL 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband has been having problems with his truck.  He has gotten the battery
replaced, tested the alternator and starter, but all are okay.  The truck will run for a few
hours then the battery completely dies out.  This just happened over the weekend.  The
radio goes first, then power windows and even the speedometer goes out.  We can't figure
out what the problem is.  Any suggestions/answers would be greatly appreciated.

It likely has 2 batteries. Did you replace both?

We do have two brand new batteries. The batteries have been replaced about 3 times in the past three months. We don't know what seems to be causing the batteries to die so fast. The alternator has been checked, the starter has been checked. The only other thing is some electrical issue. Still scratching our heads.

Something is draining the batteries while the vehicle is not running. This needs to be investigated as I am pretty sure you didn't get a bunch of bad batteries.
