4X4 not disenganging

Asked by ford3930 Apr 21, 2016 at 07:55 PM about the 2002 Ford F-350 Super Duty XL Extended Cab SB 4WD

Had 4wd engaged, went to disengage it. Will not
disengage now. 4wd light still on, replaced selector
switch but did not fix the issue. What coukd be
wrong? Thanks

Rarely is it actually the selector switch. My guess would be the transfer case's controller or bad auto locking hubs on the front axle
