My 03 cavalier has a check engine light and a service light and the Serice light came on and not sure why or for what didn't even know it had one

The check engine light is for when the computer has a fault code stored, the service light can come on at predetermined times just to get you in for service or when something major is happening. Go to an auto parts store they will read the codes for free then you will know if you can use your car safely without hurting something
