What would cause the dash cluster to keeping going out

Asked by jay29oh Dec 02, 2020 at 08:05 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought 2 in the past year and a half and I think this one just went out today.
Also sometimes the 4 wheel drive will go into 4 wheel high by itself, sometimes
I would get in and notice the seat and pedal adjustment would be moved. Also
sometimes I noticed that it reset computer by itself. Please help, I can't afford
to be throwing parts at it anymore.

Find a shop that specializes in automotive electrical systems and have them go through everything. If they know what they are doing, they will go through the wiring harness cleaning and tightening connections, cleaning grounds and looking for damage and deficiencies. They will follow up trouble codes and check components to make sure they are functioning properly and recommend repairs and part replacement as needed. It will cost a few dollars but if successful you’ll have a drivable vehicle and won’t spend hundreds randomly replacing parts and hoping for miracles. I know whereof I speak because I have a fleet of five 15 to 25 year old Gm vehicles including two Avalanches and a GM mechanic / electrical genius who does all those things to keep them running just fine. Every dollar I give him is money well spent.
