my air conditioner on a 2003 avalanche blowing hot air seems no power to air dryer

Tried to add Freon and wont take

Ing. Switch off ,Cycle AC to Max Hot,Start,Shut off after one min. Switch off,,cycle to max cold start ,,May take four cycles..Wait one min. between cycles
