Thermostat

Asked by RichieC Sep 19, 2011 at 05:32 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I want to change the thermostat in my daughters Trailblazer. It's a2004, 4.2L V6 automatic. My problem is that the Haynes manual says the thermostat for a V6 is on top of the engine at the end of the radiator hose. So, I looked up the part number (Stant 14659) all the parts places have the same number. Ok, so I buy iot and iots not the same shape as the one on the truck now. The one I bought is kind of offset, the one on the truck id an "L" shapped one. I cannot seem to find the one I need, has anyone run into this problem before?  Thanks in advance.

Mathiew, Are you saying that if I bring the VIN number to a dealer they can find the correct part? Thanks.

I'm not sure what the problem is...that part # is the correct part. I just put that same one (ordered from rockauto) on my 2004 TB and it fit perfectly. It has a 190 degree elbow bend, exactly like the original part that I took off my TB. Maybe your not getting a good look at when comparing. Trust, it is the correct part and comes with the o-ring you need. If you need info on how to install, check the forums at trailvoy.com, they are outstanding!
