O2 sensor compatability

Asked by Stephanie Jun 11, 2022 at 06:34 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm need to replace the connector between the upstream
and down stream 02 sensor in my 04. 4.2 l ls 4wd
trailblazer. I have one off of the same hear but a 2wd
model and they both use 4 prongs but the 4wd has an
extra empty space( making it hexagonaly shaped as
upposed to square) on the male end. Can I still use the
2wd adapter?

Just get it off Amazon right part and no problems later down the road. Like 35-60 usd ea. Ps if you have a secondary code catylist below threshold, or bank 2 sensor 2. The catylist is not getting hot enough on output side. 02 will NOT SOLVE THIS CODE. Look in historic codes and see if that code has come up in the past. I am assuming the wiring is undamaged or modified.

No, there's a reason why the connectors are different. The manufacturer did this on purpose to prevent the wrong sensor from being installed. Trailblazers and Blazers are very fussy about compatibility between years and even body styles within the same model year. Get the correct sensor, you'll be better off. Don't buy a universal sensor either. They need to be wired, by you and are a pain in the rear. Hope that helps! Jim
