Had valve cover gaskets replaced on a 1996 c280. Since then car shudders and seeing gas come out of the tail pipe.What is going on?

Souds like you could have a bad coilpack. My c280 felt like it was running on 4 cylinders, I purchased 1 coilpack start by moving it since there 3 coilpacks on the car. I found the bad one and problem solved.

Also you can try cleaning your mass air flow sensor, this can also help keep the car running smoothly.
