Several weeks after my 1994 MB C280
was losing power occasionally going down
the interstate, one day it would not start. I
had two diagnoses by two different
mechanics that said its the Crankshaft
position sensor and have been told that
because my car has a "crank but no start &
no spark", to replace the following:
-Crankshaft Pos Sensor
-Spark plugs
-Sparkplug Wire Set
I had these replaced and there is still no
start. It would seem there is no spark
either.
They all say that it's NOT the fuel pump.
I went online and watched a YouTube video
that said with all these items Mechanics
say it must be, that in his case it was just a
corroded connection of the ground wire.
He disconnected it and sandpapered the
connecting piece, until all the corrosion
was gone. He hooked it back up and then
it started.

What does a guy need to do to get this
started?
Do I really need to take it to the Mercedes
shop for a "true" diagnosis?
  Please help!

Take your vehicle to a local parts store as in Autozone or Advanced Auto and have them hook a Computer up to it. Need some codes to figure out the main problem with your issue! It should be Free of charge to hook up a computer and get the codes. If your car started from someone getting the corrosion off your battery terminals. then your getting a bad connection. Clean your battery Terminals and then it may fire up! When you turn your key to start it what does it do?

Mercedes, (1 & 2 mechanics??) is the same as every other engine, Fuel, Ignition spark and the correct timing events it.. HAS to run... no magic! Check CKP crankshaft position sensor one OF the few causes of a no start it generates a AC voltage square wave signal to the MB computer saying hey fire now, the cranks right here..I'm sure there are 10 youtube videos saying something useless.You can sand paper everything if theres resistance thats so high no signal can communicate... not the end but in the wire under the insulation , that's what multimeters are used for. OK, check ignition coil(s) 22 years old they die. Regards, I know you checked the Fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

What do you think about the idea of this problem being: faulty ignition coil? I have (3) ignition coils in my MB.
