04 Chevy Suburban 267000m. 1500 V8 Tapping issue with Oil Pressure Gauge Flux

Asked by LeeAnn Oct 08, 2017 at 04:52 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changed oil and filter. Shortly after the oil gauge started fluxing between 35-60.
Tapping began to follow. I run 5-30W high mileage because I travel a lot.
Thinking that it might be the oil pump going out or sensor or filter.

that's a high mileage engine it may very well be on it's way out , obviously shut it off if it starts tapping , you can't depend on it . Does it smoke at all ? how much oil does it use ?

No oil burned or leaked either, ever. After more research I am thinking it is a sticking lifter.
