Transmission Issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is anyone having an issue with their transmission?  I'm noticing that gears are being held too long and that some shifts are harsh.

Honda has had issues with V6 auto transmissions for years. Take it to the dealer, and bitch about it until the trans is replaced FOR FREE. They will do it. Say you will call Honda N.A. if you need to, but they WANT happy customers.

yeah, my honda 1998 v6 transmission had a similar issue to yours. I had to have it rebuilt for $2000, but mine isn't in warranty

The other two responses will not resolve the issue. First, do a basic check and determine if the tranny fluid is where it should be. If it's low, that could be your problem. Also, if it is low, you likely have a fluid lead. If the car is still under factory warranty, schedule an appointment to have it checked. BUT! If the dealer discovers the tranny is operational and normal, you'll be charged for the inspection at the hourly rate. If you find the fluid levels are correct and there are no leaks. Go to consumer reports online and see if your vehicle has had any recalls to include transmission ailments. If you have a legitimate issue with the car, Honda will address it. I hope this helped.
