2.2 exotic engine

Asked by Eugenia Jan 12, 2018 at 01:59 AM about the 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Parked car and it has never
cranked since. Mechanic came
looked said upper guide rail
broke and caused it to jump
time and it automatically
messed up motor. But hasn't
taken it apart to check valves
etc. Does this sound rite and
how much to pay a shop to fix.

That explanation is plausible. I would not turn over the engine anymore as it could increase the damage. Pulling the head is probably the best way to evaluate the engine.
