Tachometer Fluctuates Wildly, Jerky Shifting

Asked by Cayenne_41436483 Feb 21, 2017 at 09:48 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello everyone!

I own a 2004 Chevy Blazer 4WD. It has 210,000 miles on it. (Yes, I know.)

Recently the transmission went out and a friend mechanic happend to have
one on hand. We replaced it along with all of the seals. (This repair
occured at 209,000~ miles)

However, the engine has never felt normal after about 2-3 months of
purchasing it used.

The problem occurs when I go to accelerate quickly. The tachometer
needle bounces wildly from 1-5 and it the engine jerks noticeably before
shifting into the appropriate higher gear. I've noted that this seems to
happen more frequently when I'm going up an incline.

I suspect a transmission control problem. What does your mechanic friend say about this problem?
