MY EXHAUST on my ENGINE was hot within 30 seconds after I started it.what could be the problem .IT doesn't over heat and my temp gauge says my car isn't hot

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON EVER SINCE.DO YOU THINK MY THERMOSTAT COULD BE STUCK, IT'S NOT OVER HEATING.MY FEET GET REALLY HOT AND MY HEAT ISN'T ON
