Cabin air problem

Asked by Reno Jun 02, 2018 at 10:40 AM about the 1996 Toyota T100 2 Dr DX Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1996 T100 DLX extended cab; 3.4 L; had to replace AC/heater fan switch;
replaced blower motor just to maintain; now there is very little air coming out
of the system on all settings; AC, heat, cabin recirculate, outside air, doesn't
matter where you set it.  Have opened up evaporator coil and cleaned as
well as can be done given the shroud on it.  No change.  Which way is the
fan supposed to spin?  Can hear doors opening and closing in dash when
changed from floor to vents to defrost.  Flustered.

In trucks of our vintage it is amazing or scary -depending, what can get into the duct/vent work. Try to get a vacuum cleaner hose into the "out flow" opening/side just past the refurbished fan motor. First sealing (masking tape) all the vents (don't forget the one under the steering column, All Except, the one farthest from the blower motor (left of the steering wheel) this will let air into the system to help pull the obstruction out to the vacuum hose. Should that not work give a try vacuuming each vent in turn (leaving the others sealed). Theoretically that will keep the, whatever, from being sucked farther along the passageways than it currently is. Hopefully you won't have to remove any of the vent louvers themselves, they are not too robust----don't ask.
