Instant flooding

Asked by Steven Sep 19, 2018 at 05:59 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Impala FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm working on my sisters 2005 chevy impala v6, it
had issues with stalling on her and eventually it
just stalled while on the highway, got it towed back
to my house where I checked the coil pack, spark
plugs, plug wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, to the intake
hose off and the intake, air filter everything was
saturated with gas, left it sit with throttle wide open
to dry it out and the second I turn the key to the on
position NOT START but only the on position it
immediately flooded the intake and was pouring
out the throttle body and stopped after I turned it
back off, been working on cars for 21 years and
this one has me lost.

Check the fuel pressure regulator if to much pressure will flood out throttle just like if carburetor float is set to high will get to much gas. You will need a fuel pressure gauge to check.

Unhooked the hose from the pressure regulator and turned the key fuel shot straight to the hood all over the engine and this time throttle body was dry, I appreciate you responding on the issue had i not thought to check the regulator i would have after reading your answer, ordered a regulator thank you for your answer and your time to answer the question.
