A brand new transmission for a 2005 Chevy Impala will run you about $1500- $2000, not including labor.

i had my riviera done at 165k miles and it cost 2200. it was a reputable independent shop.

Obviously a necropost but Id recommend a tested used one from a salvage yard you can grab one for like 400-500 and the right mechanic can get it done for 600-800 labor
