Sure sounds like a transmission problem. It should stay in overdrive normally, unless you intentionally kick it out. When you say "stays in overdrive mode" do you mean you can't kick it out of O/D when you push the button on shifter? Not the button that you push to get it out of Park and in to gear, the smaller button below that. Then you will have a small orange icon O/D OFF in the dash under speedometer. Is that lit up? And "Bucks" ...you mean like it goes in and out of gear...and only in reverse?
