is it an involved and expensive procedure to have the shift solenoid replaced in a 2002 RAV 4?

Asked by ACRSeeley May 13, 2016 at 04:40 PM about the 2002 Toyota RAV4 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My transmission is slipping in the lower gears.  Does fine once it gets going.
Was put on a coding machine and it came up a shift solenoid problem.  I love
my RAV 4.  In 14 years this is the first problem I have had and it has 210,000
miles.

I suggest you.....Replace the transmission with a LOW mileage "salvage" trans less costly and better than 80% of the shops rebuilding them! 210,000 miles. GAME OVER for automatics! Regards
