Why is it losing coolant -no puddles?

Asked by GuruDJ5X Mar 23, 2017 at 12:36 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2005 Equinox losing about 1.5 quarts/week -no puddles, tight-sealing
reservoir cap.
After removing cap while cold and releasing pressure in the apparently empty
reservoir, about 1cm. of coolant flows back in.
After re-filling to the cold mark, back to square 1.

Do you have white smoke from the tail pipe??? if you then it's the head gasket !

Let it run in park for a while, get the engine up to temp and run heater on max, check if heater core might be leaking and leak draining to ground through condensate drain, you might see some puddling then in that area. Otherwise pick up a Block Tester kit and look for signs you have a head gasket issue.
