22RE Crankshaft pulley seperated?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Driving to work today my '94 Toyota Pickup with 22RE engine began making some unusual noises.  Made it to work and went out at lunch to check things out.  Long story short, the inner pulley that the fanbelt goes around moves front to back about a 1/4" by hand and when running it's moving back and forth.  I'm not much of a mechanic, but I get the impression the rear part of the pulley should not be so mobile?  Anyone shed any light on this?  Thanks.
