Smoking wire is either a short or two large a fuse allow more amps to be drawn on the wire size. Have you changed any fuses or wiring lately? Have your add any after market electrical equiptment? Has vehicle been in an accident , been towed, been pulled by chain or anything and or been jacked up with car jack lately? If yes to any of these I would start in that area looking for your issue.
Also has it had anything spilled in vehicle or been drove thru high water?

i think i have looked at every wire in this truck. the white wire with a red stripe is cut at the ecm when you touch them you get a loud snap and the wire gets hot, there are 3 plugs on the ecm if you unplug the last plug you can put the wires togather with no problems. could this be a bad ecm. it has been checked by napa twice

ok, got all those problems fixed. now no spark at the plugs.i have power at the coil. 2 volts to the distributor.the smoking wire was caused by the fuel pump relay.
