Pricing disparities among similar cars?

Asked by Mike Jun 04, 2021 at 06:49 AM about the 2005 Toyota Corolla CE

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Pricing for my car is rated high yet others with similar characteristics are priced
higher and noted as fair deal.  What are the triggers that cause what appears
to be inconsistency.   Has anyone seen this?

I am a private seller. My question about price differences is more related to the price on each of the ads.....so some are dealer listings and some are private party sales offers. I would expect the price to be evaluated similarly regardless of the seller type.

You don't know that dealers charge more due to the millions of dollars they have in buildings and lots and the huge cost of staff and other operating expenses? Ask what you want but people will always go with the better price. Buying from a reputable dealer is worth something to most buyers whereas buying from an unknown private seller is a crap shoot with no recourse should the car have problems.
