Stalled Corolla

Asked by C6067 Feb 03, 2016 at 05:11 PM about the 2004 Toyota Corolla CE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My oil light came on and in 5 mins the engine quit.
It isn't making any noise and restarts with no
problem.  But within 30 mins of driving the oil light
comes back on.

Don't ignore low oil pressure as you may ruin your engine. There could be a false reading due to a bad oil pressure sender but if the pressure really is low then it could be from a worn engine, plugged up oil filter or worn oil pump.

After the stall I did check the oil and it was low so I added some in. However, the oil light continues to go on when the car is driven on highway, but not around town. Thanks for your replies. Gives me hope it the engine may not be gone.
