Front left wheel problems

Asked by Emma Oct 07, 2019 at 09:24 AM about the 2003 Toyota Corolla S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Manual car, has almost 220,000 miles.
Had shaking start in what felt like the front left tire. It got
worse with breaking where the whole front eventually
started shaking/pulsing when I would break. Got my front
breaks and rotors changed, changed the front left ball joint,
and front right caliper (I think). Shaking went away for a
week or two and started slowly coming back, been about 3-
4 months now and it's at its worst. Its worst at highway
speeds, it comes and goes where it stops then builds up till
it's really bad the restarts over the course of about a half
hour. It still breaks fine they are just very shaky, shifts fine. I
havent ever had issues with breaking too hard on other
vehicles. I had smoke coming front the front left side this
morning and a smell of possible burnt electric on the front
left side this morning into work.

Clutch was changed around 160,000 miles....we know the
rear breaks need to be changed and tires need to be
rotated. Had a few friends look at it, one found something
but I forgot what it was, they made it sound insignificant,
having my father look into repairs for whatever that was.
