My Toyota Engine 5A fe Starts normally but on running some 10km, the Engine goes dead and wont start untl it rests for 10 mins the starts off once again. Whats the problem. I was advised to change teh Computer system but the problem is up gain. Advise please

First, are you sure it has the 5A FE...that's a 1.5L built to meet Japanese standards and not sold in the US in 1997 (for 1998 model year) or 1998. Do you know the chassis code on your car? AE 102 maybe? There was even another engine between the 5A series and the 1ZZ series. The 7A series, a 1.8L Beginning in those same years, '87 and '88 all Corollas built in the US were manufactured in Calif. and have the 1.8L 1ZZ FE. Now, I suppose it could be an import from Japan, it's not like I don't believe you, it's your car you would know. Now, all that being said, it could be the ECU. Maybe. When the car is in open loop at start up it runs fine, then warms up and goes in to closed loop. But 10 minutes is not long enough time to cool to make any difference, so I'm thinking it's not the temperature of engine causing it to stall, then re-start. So it could be the ECU. But before buying one, have your car OBDII scanned. Is your Check Engine Light on? But have it scanned regardless if it is or not. Many auto-parts houses will scan it free, and before buying the first thing they say, bring the codes back here and let us know. Open a new question so we will see it. But one more thing...does it do this every time, you can never get more than 10km, 6 miles or so, or does it on occasion keep running?

Opps, I read your post again and it seems you already did buy an ECU...right? Is there any chance you can take a picture if your engine and post it? That would help too. I am leaning to a fuel starvation problem. The pump runs but is weak..or filter...that can happen. If possible get your fuel pressure checked at the rail. Should be 48 psi +/- 4 ....and sometimes I forget this is world wide and for all I know you ARE in Japan. My apologies.

My corolla was imported from Japan 5yrs ago. It has performed well. Now it has a problem, i started it in the morning @05:30 when I was going for work . Within 3 minutes it stopped running as i was reversing. When I cranked the second time it couldn't pickup till now as i am writing. During troubleshooting only one code is coming on . Code 14. what is code 14? How must I repair it . Any videos showing how to fix that to normal?
