after replacing the batteries in my remote the light inside the remote just flashes when pressing the button

It has to be aftermarket the 1996 Corolla or Conquest (Conquest is the badge for South Africa Corolla 6th Generation manufactured in South Africa.) and did not have fob until 2003 model year, in the USA anyway

ita a south africa conquest and the models in SA came out with the remote anti-theft system. can someone help please
