It's like no matter how much the CDC spends on anti-smoking ads, kids today still pick up the habit. In all seriousness, try to gauge the color of the smoke - white? blue? At start up, or all the time? Mileage on engine? How does it run - rough? Lack power? Answering these questions will give you some indicators what the problem is.

If the car is smoking tell it that it is no good and should try to quit, try the patch I hear it works great !
