oil overfill or not ?

Asked by Brian May 26, 2016 at 04:48 AM about the 2000 Toyota Celica GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just changed the oil/filter on my 2000
Toyota Celia GT. I put 4 quarts of 5w-30 oil
on it and drove around town...while at work
with the vehicle cold, my dipstick is showing
the oil level to be way over capacity, Like 2
QUARTS over ....how's that possible ?

If the oil looks good clean not mixed with water and car is running fine? IS the DIPSTICK original and correct for this vehicle..I suggest you double check everything again.

did you change the oil filter as well when you changed the oil? the filter will hold approx. 1/2 quart. If the filter was not changed and you added 4 quarts to the system you will be 1/2 quart over filled.
