So I have a chevy colbalt 2005 and I keep hearing a knocking sound when braking I was tod it was the steering coloum I heard there was a recall in 2010 but my vin number didn"t show up . help

Check the rear bushings on the lower control arms. They are likely worn out. Had the same problem. It's a cheap fix.
