my 93 celica st at 70 mph is at about 3800 rpm's. is that normal?

i want to get an overdrive gear or pully is that normal for my car to do that? just bought it and i want to sace more gas because i ahve to travel bout 15 miles to go to work.

Hi 93st, It sounds like you may be having transmission problems. I would have it checked out by a transmission specialist. If it's manual, you could be "missing" 5th gear. If it's automatic, you could be "missing" overdrive. Good luck!
