Continual Camry calamity

Sounds like a backed up catalytic converter. Do you notice an odor or is the exhaust getting abnormally hot. Is the check engine light on with O2 sensor code or random misfire code? All things would indicate a clogged CAT especially with the symptoms you describe.

Suggest you go on line and find a AUTO PARTS STORE near you that will use a Scan Tool and read codes in your vehicle's computer for FREE. Good Luck.

You say it seems to get worse as the car gets hot. I would be more inclined to say it's a bad camshaft position sensor or crank sensor. Either sensor can mimic your symptoms when bad. One of the symptoms of a bad crank sensor is the back firing. Like Mark said, if the check engine light is on, get the error codes read. It may be impossible for you since the car is hardly moving though. If you live close to an Autozone, they will scan the codes. Post the codes back here. That should narrow down the problem if you can get the codes scanned. If no possibility of getting the car scanned, you can bite the bullet and purchase both of the sensors and have them installed. You should be able to get them both for under a $100. Keep us posted.....
