Car won't start, no spark

Asked by GuruFTCND Apr 18, 2020 at 08:09 PM about the 2005 Toyota Camry LE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Camry 2.4 liter. Worked fine the night before and then the next
day, turns over, but nothing. I did a spark test, but no spark. I took it to my
mechanic, he found some rodent damage, fixed that issue, still not spark.
New PCM, nothing. Timing chain was fine, no spark. He replaced camshaft
sensor, nothing. He confirmed with me that none of the valves are bent. I
then took it to Toyota dealer to have it checked out because my mechanic
was at a loss as to what else it could be. They told me I have an electrical
issue and that three more hours of labor would confirm whether there were
any more issues with the wiring, but I still have a 'mechanical problem' with
the vehicle. They did a compression test and got readings of 120, 120, 105,
125. I had the gas tank replaced recently, and the fuel pump had been
running fine at the time. The car seemed to be running okay, but I had not
driven it myself in a couple weeks. With 115000 on it, and money that has
already been sunk into it, it is a shame to just dump it, when it sounds like
there may be a viable solution.

Your Mechanic and or the Dealer Techs must have checked for trouble codes in the Computers. Do you know what they are? Any warning lights on or flashing when the engine was running?

Tony, I did not ask the dealer what codes they have. No warning lights flashing when the engine was running.

Ed92626, I was thinking that too, but when the dealer told me it was 3 hours to do that and I still have a mechanical issue, it kind of threw me off. I should have asked for the codes.
