is there any easy way to stop the temperature gauge from interfering with my
speedometer reading ?   like a fuse that can be pulled ?

If the gauge is pinned at or past the hot mark either the coolant temperature sensor is shorted to ground or the wiring going to the sensor is. Unplug the sensor and see if that solves the problem. If so, replace the sensor. If not inspect the wires going to the coolant temperature sensor. Look for bare spots that are touching something metal, like the hot exhaust manifold. Hope that helps!
