Less than a month ago, I took my car in for sputtering, shutting off and possible overheating. They replaced the radiator, hoses, ignition coils, spark plugs and valve cover gasket. Took it back when it overheated and I noticed one fan still was not working. (they had not replaced it). They replaced fan, and saw that new plugs were bad and another cylinder was bad. They replaced these. Two days later, Im driving on the interstate and hear a loud pop, see small puff of smoke, pull over, and the radiator is busted and the oil dipstick is covered in chunky, yellowish stuff. Shop is 99% sure it's a head gasket. Shoulnd't that have been looked for or discovered either the 1st or 2nd time thaey had the car?

You might consider a second opinion from another repair facility. Ask them to perform a "Compression Test" on all cylinders and compare results.
