2002 Camry LE makes high pitch noise at low speed or braking when AC is on

This summer I notice that my 2002 Camry LE starts to make high pitch noise at low braking, or at low speed. This only happens when the AC is turned on.  When AC is off, then I do not hear this noise. What could be the cause? Is it still safe to drive it around?
