Ram air is usually shorter piping, cold air is longer piping, Most times cold air gives more hp gains but in some cases/design and motor configuration a short ram will be of some benefit if not better but in any case a short ram will be way less restrictive than a stock air box but your car may already have a upgraded stock air box. Someone ask me one time if I put a cold or ram air on my truck I said its the H.O. model and already has a huge cold air intake on it, there is no need to, and with after-market parts I could actually loose power.

Yes, thats right my cold air ducks run out of the engine compartment above the left front tire toward the front upper part of the fender but yet above the inner fender and runs from there, Iam not sure I have never pulled the inner fender or fender to see.

I had a Honda CRX I put a ram air on, the company bought from stated it was cold air, it was longer than most ram air set ups but was still in the engine compartment. Main reason for buying it, wanted to use a K&N filter. So some companies stretch the truth to get sales.

Another option would be to just get a K&N replacement filter that fits in current air box.
