Does it seem as though the motor is "locked up" XLE has got to me an automatic, but if it were a manual transmission we could make the engine turn by pushing it...have seen this condition before...as long as you can make the motor turn....make sure there is oil in there...we may be okay...batteries should be changed every five years.

It it's simply a dead battery....have you had a jumpstart...should call AAA if you've got it...will not charge you if you're a member....an ambitious stranger may jumpstart the thing....in any event, if the motor turns you are going to want to invest in a NEW battery...to which the connections should be corrosion free...undo the other end of the black cable and get a solid ground to chassis....use a wirebrush to remove all corrosion....same on the positive side, hose off and wirebrush the terminals clean...including the little lollipop connector return from the alternator~

If it isn't turning and locked up, would recommend selling it for parts~

even though the battery may have the 12.5 volts would not survive a destructive "load test" where the battery is dead-shorted for three seconds then tried to start if not see how many hours that it will take to return....in any event the cost of a new battery is a fraction of the cost of the inconvenience incurred from not being able to start the engine reliably~

We've had monsoons the past couple of days...Could moisture cause this problem? Checked the battery, starter and alternator...all okay. There is a short somewhere. The a/c light started flashing and the a/c turns off during this time as well.

you could start checking for shorts, you could park it in a heated garage to dry out for a spell~

how about a heated south florida Roy? Now i've determined it won't turn on if the a/c switch is on. must be a short in the a/c somewhere.

did you look at the fuses, Tom?

my heart goes out to you...you will die without air conditioning there~

if the fuses are a blowin' we will look at your a/c relay which could be marginal or have the terminals clobbered up too~

Do you need me to look this up and provide you with descriptive drawings, part numbers, prices and availability....cause I will do it....

...well tom I am a car guy, and still had to look it up, the cartoon does not show too much detail, but the major fuse block is around shin level on the drivers side, probably has an access panel~

too lazy to find an actual cartoon, the box is located near there...thanks for your gratitude~!

will see where the A/C fuse is...what number it is, in the fuse block...if it's in the fuse block...a lot of times there's a separate "special fuse" for a/c--- -gimme some time~

it appears the A/C is handled by the BCM (body control module)~
