Power at fuel pump (CIR OPN) relay for 2001 Toyota Camry 2.2L
Fuel pump relay (CIR OPN) is not providing power to the fuel pump. The
relay tests good. When I jump 12V power to the fuel pump pole (position 3)
the fuel pump runs and the car starts and runs fine. There are four poles on
this relay. With key off there is no power to any of the four relay positions.
With key on there is power to one of the poles (position 5 on schematic).
One of the other poles (pole 1 or 2) should have power - which other pole
should have power and where does the power come from? Is there a fuse
for this power? Which fuse is it?
4 Pins Relay Face the relay 4 pins up. Pins 1(30) and 2(87) UP(top-to-bottom). Pin3(85),4(87A) and 5(86) DOWN.(Left-to-right)....... Fuel Pump pole should not be pin(position)3(85). it should be pin 2(87). Pin 1(30) should be Battery + . Pin 5 Battery + Along Pin 3 GND to power up (when you open the ignition switch) the relay to let the current flow from Pin 1(30) Thru Pin 2(87) to Fuel Pump. To test that 4 Pins relay with a Test Lamp:...Power up the relay: Jump from battery positive post to relay Pin 1(30) and Pin 5(86). Jump from Battery NEG post to Pin 3(85). with the relay already powered (energized) up check for current at Pin 2(87). Test Lamp should lit if relay is good. If it doesn't, replace relay. Thanks
Not sure if this will help you or not, but I believe there is a 15A fuse in the engine bay, drivers side. My schematic shows the fuel pump relay poles 3&5 are the switch and poles 1&2 are power. Many things cause the fuel pump fuse to blow, as I just blew mine when I accidentally shorted my downstream 02 sensor wires when I had the radio on. Good luck!
