98 camry shifting crazy and it will bog down when stopping

It doesn't slip but shifts slow but has good power. It
also surges as your going down when the road

get the trouble codes read from an auto parts store...am going to suspect a defective fuel pressure regulator and/or an EGR that should be pulled off and cleaned~
